Butternut Squash

Easy Baby Food - Butternut Squash (A great 1st food)

Cut butternut squash in half (the hardest part of this recipe).  Cook covered for 6-7 minutes with  a thin layer of water coating the bottom of your dish.

Uncover squash and cook for another 6-7 minutes.  You can test with a fork to ensure it is fully cooked.  Scoop our "meat" with a spoon and put in the blender or food processor.  Add water to a desired consistency.

It makes about 13 oz (26 oz for the full butternut squash) of baby food when you are adding ample water to make it a thin consistency.  A thin consistency also allows you to add amble rice cereal.  When babies require a thicker baby food, 1 whole butternut squash equals about 15 oz.

Oven Recipe

Cut butternut squash in half, put both halves in a cake pan. Put the squash face down with a small pool of water underneath and cook about 40 minutes.
